The links to the first six videos are given at the end of the description. • Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of your urinary system; kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Most infections involve the lower urinary tract (bladder and the urethra). Women are at greater risk of developing a UTI than are men. • Based on the site of infection, there are three types of UTI • 1. Pyelonephritis is inflammation of the kidney, typically due to a bacterial infection. • 2. Cystitis is an inflammation of the bladder. Inflammation is where part of your body becomes irritated, red, or swollen. Most cases of cystitis are caused by Escherichia coli. The first-choice agents for the treatment of cystitis include nitrofurantoin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX), Fosfomycin, or Beta-lactam antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins). • 3. Urethritis is inflammation of the urethra; the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body • There is Gonococcal urethritis caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Non Gonococcal Urethritis (NGU), most commonly caused by chlamydia trachomatis. Common symptoms include painful urination, continuous urge to urinate, itching and, urethral discharge. Men may experience blood in the urine or semen, itching, tenderness, or swelling of the penis, and/or pain with intercourse or ejaculation. Women may experience abdominal pain, pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, or vaginal discharge. • Antimicrobials are used for gonococcal and non-gonococcal infections, using a dual therapy that consists of two antimicrobials that have different mechanisms of action Gonococcal urethritis; an injection dose of ceftriaxone 250 mg intramuscularly and oral dose of azithromycin 1g simultaneously. • Non-gonococcal urethritis; an oral single dose of azithromycin  1g or a 7-day course of doxycycline 100 mg orally twice daily. • Alternative treatments can also be used when the above options are not available: Erythromycin 500mg orally four times daily for 7 days • Levofloxacin 500mg orally four times daily for 7 days • Ofloxacin 300mg orally four times daily for 7 days • Funguria, fungal urinary tract infections, are most commonly caused by Candida species (Candida albicans) but may also be caused by Cryptococcus neoformans, and Aspergillus species. • • • • Part 1:    • Homeostasis, explained in Urdu/Hindi   • Part 2:    • osmoregulation explained in Urdu/Hindi   • Part 3:    • Excretion explained in Urdu/Hindi   • Part 4:    • Human Excretory System explained in U...   • Part 5:    • Structure of Nephron explained in Urd...   • Part 6:    • Function of Nephron explained in Urdu...
