Lakeland College natural playscape is a part of a Human Services - Early Childhood Education (ECE) research project. • The space was created from a cross-department initiative headed by Human Services Club students working with Lakeland's Interior Design Technology faculty and agricultural science student contributions. • The natural playscape space is built on-campus and used by the on-campus daycare and the early childhood education play program. Human Services students were provided the opportunity to design interactive features to promote child development. • The playscape features include a mud kitchen and garden for children to interact and explore a natural organic space with plants, edibles and wildlife. • The research project is looking to impact child curriculum with the importance of natural play spaces for a child's sensory development, especially in a society which is so reliant on technology. • About Lakeland College: • Established in 1913, Lakeland College is home to hands-on learning like you've never seen.
