Off-roading a Honda Civic... and I thought I peaked in high school. • Things I should mention: • A differential's job is to allow the wheels to spin at different speeds so taking a corner (where wheels move at different speeds) doesn't become a problem. • A limited-slip differential (LSD) does the above but also solves the One tire fire problem caused by open differentials. An LSD is supposed to give equal or more torque to the wheel with more resistance or traction.
