Caroline Prokos is one of thousands of young people who use social media and YouTube to share their personal struggles with mental health and anxiety to help others coping with the same issues. Prokos has a type of eating disorder known as binge-purge anorexia and has seen both the destructive and supportive power of social media during her own recovery. At her lowest points, she followed pro-bulimia accounts that glorified weight loss.
