This video is brought to you by the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Reutlingen in Germany. • The video was created by sixth semester students in the BioMed Laboratory of the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences program. • The students Ronja Becker, Anika Fuchs, Lena Weiß and Nathalie Zelzer participated in this video and were supervised by Prof. Dr. Kemkemer and Dipl. Ing. FH Athanasopulu. • It contains the following content: • This video is about the 3Rs and the need to minimize animal testing. As a guideline to compensate for the ethical difficulty, the 3Rs principle was introduced. It includes three strategies which are replacement, reduction and refinement. Replacement means using validated methods as an alternative. Reduction calls for minimizing the number of animals by publishing both positive and negative results.
