Introducing Blossom! A strong cherry stout created by the women of Black Sheep from start to finish to celebrate #InternationalWomensDay. • The concept was created by a group of women in Black Sheep and the recipe was developed with the help of Katie Marriot (of now sadly closed Nomadic Beers). These women brewed, designed, packaged, tasted and are now selling the beer! • And what a beer it is: roasted, chocolate, crystal and biscuit malts were mashed with oats, creating a robust, dark wort with muscavado sugar added in the underback. It's hopped with a dab of Summit and Goldings to bring a nice bit of bitterness to balance this sweet malt base. Bright, sour cherries were added later on in fermention in one of our mini-Yorkshire Square Fermenters; our house yeast bringing its fruity ester profile and a slick, dry finish. • Blossom comes in at a stout 7%, and upon pouring, immediately engulfs the senses with sweet cherry and rich dark chocolate and coffee notes. Continuing as you sip - Black Forest Gateau in liquid form - this beer is rich and indulgent, yet bright and refreshing. • Our CEO Charlene says: 'Black Sheep Brewery has a rich 30-year history with many incredible women at the heart. We wanted to celebrate this history and our fantastic team through creating a beer made by and dedicated to our women. It was great to collaborate and build relationships across different departments, highlighting the team’s hard work and success, and to build on our efforts to support women in other ways as a business.
