Lori Roe • Instructional Technology Specialist, Delaware Department of Education • @lroe • Lori Roe, M.Ed. currently serves as an instructional technology specialist for Cape Henlopen School District, K-12. She designs and supports professional learning and teaching with digital resources. Roe has successfully implemented projects that integrate mobile learning, videoconferencing, and global education. As a certified course developer, she has created and facilitated eLearning courses for the Delaware Department of Education. She developed and directed the online international student project, Facing the World's Challenges, in partnership with the Peace Corps, and has participated in other global projects, such as Rock our World. She was director for STARTALK Summer Chinese immersion program, K-5 from 2010-2013. For the past 3 years, she has been the lead teacher for Delaware Summer Chinese Language Initiative Communication in STEM (LInCS) program. Roe is an adjunct instructor for the Masters of Applied Technology Program at Wilmington University. She has presented at national conferences, such as ASCD and ISTE. Her greatest accomplishments include receiving the Governor’s Education Award for contributions in Geospatial Technologies and the honorable achievements of becoming an Apple Distinguished Educator, Certified Google Teacher, SMART Exemplary Educator, iEducate Honoree, and teacher council member for DE Rodel Foundation. Roe’s passion for teaching and learning with technology continues to inspire her advocacy for innovation in global education. •   / loriroe   • Global Partnership in Language, Culture, and STEM • Language skills, cultural literacy, and STEM knowledge are essential for learners today to contribute to a better world tomorrow. This presentation will highlight the elements for designing and implementing a successful program thorough international partnerships.The Delaware Summer Chinese Language Initiative for Communicating STEM (LInCS) Program is a four-week language, culture and STEM immersion for high school students to study Chinese and STEM in Hangzhou, China. Learn how strategic planning, international collaboration, and technology result in authentic cultural experiences, research-based projects on clean energy solutions, and increased language proficiencies. International connections, whether traveling abroad or virtually, provide valuable experiences for learners beyond the domestic landscape in global literacy, creativity, and entrepreneurship. All stakeholders, including educators, business leaders, political officials, and community members need to continue to work together to leverage digital resources and sustain global partnerships.
