Spasticity affects around 40% of people with spinal cord injury (SCI). It can have an impact on an individual's function, particularly arms and legs. If spasticity is not managed effectively, it can complicate daily tasks like dressing or feeding one's self, as well as affecting skin care, hygiene, or worse, leading to fixed deformities like contractures (changes to soft tissue). • The Pendulum test (Wartenberg) was introduced in the 1950s as a measure of spasticity. Originally a qualitative measure, the use of electronic equipment to generate quantitative data has been used. • The Pendulum test is used to measure spasticity around the knee and in the quadriceps muscles. Usually performed with your patient lying down, you would hold the leg straight out (extension) and then drop the relaxed leg. Irregularities in how the dropped leg swings shows you the nature of the spasticity. • Everything you need to know about the Pendulum Test: • https://scireproject.com/outcome/pend... • Follow us on social media, sign up for our newsletter and check out our websites! • SCIRE Professional: https://scireproject.com •   / scireproject   •   / scire-professional-4a7364212   • SCIRE Community: https://community.scireproject.com/ •   / scirecommunity   •   / scirecommunity   •   / scirecommunity   • Newsletter: https://scireproject.com/whats-new/sc... • #pendulum #spinalcordinjury #spasticity #sci
