Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the show starred none other than Roy Scheider as Captain Nathan Bridger, who takes over the futuristic submarine of the title to roam earth's oceans in the far-out futuristic year of 2018, when the Ocean Floor has been colonized! • Dismissed by many as a Star Trek - The Next Generation clone, SeaQuest nonetheless found a major cult following and was popular enough to run for three seasons, despite being scheduled against Lois Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and a whole bunch of cast changes.
