Home Assistant MFA 5 Things You Need to Know

So! MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is here, allowing you to use several different methods of authentication to gain access to your instance of Home Assistant. I'm super excited that Home Assistant has taken advantage of this feature and is slowly implementing it into their framework. • This will make Home Assistant much more secure, as we no longer need to worry about having a single point of failure when it comes to the security side of things. • I always see the usage of a single method of authentication as a disadvantage to a system, Now, though, we are not only able to make use of multiple methods of authentication, but we can now set up different users for different members of the household. • I am very interested to see where these go and what delights the imaginative and ingenious Home Assistant Community can come up with. • If you are going to try Multi-Factor Authentication out, then I recommend that you try it out on a non-critical system and enable various methods, and as I mention in the video - I would also print off backup codes (if they are available). • • Honest Review • In general, I am not proud of this video. If I was to click on a video about a new feature that offered a 5 Things you need to know , I think I'd be a little disappointed with the content. However, as each video posted brings more experience and allow me to learn valuable lessons, I have (obviously) decided to post the video. • While doing this video, I often felt quite funny saying the word Authentification instead of Authentication .
