Here you'll see how to change the oil from a pressure washer water pump. • Why does a pump need non-detergent oil? • A pressure washer water pump needs non detergent oil because it has no oil filter. A modern engine uses regular detergent motor oil because it has an oil filter to clean the impurities from the oil (that the detergent in the oil has scrubbed from the engine components). • A non-detergent oil won't be cleaning (only lubricating) and since a water pump has no filter to get rid of impurities it needs the non cleaning (non detergent) oil. • Old old car engines has no oil filter so if you have an old car you most likely already know about non detergent motor oil.
