The Oresteia -- Suffering into Truth • Video essay exploring some themes in Aeschylus' trilogy, The Oresteia. The Oresteia is the only known trilogy to have survived from Classical Greece. Aeschylus is considered to be one of the great innovators of classical theatre. He belongs to a group of thinkers that emerged from what German philosopher Karl Jaspers called the Axial Age which spanned 800 BCE to 200 BCE. Some of the thinkers and philosophies to have emerged during this period include Lao Tze, the Buddha, the Upanishads, Confucius, Classical Greek drama, philosophy (Plato, Socrates, Aristotle), old testament prophets.
