I grew up with the trumpet in my hands and its unrestrained sound has since then always been with me. I started to take this instrument and to play softly and quietly so that my knowledge, skills, technique and soul grew up in Shutka where the legendary trumpet festival Bakija Bakic was celebrated. As a child I loved the sound of the trumpets and from an early age I learned that trumpet carries out the family's soul and tradition from generation to generation. I was born in 1982, in Vranje (South Serbia) and graduated in Musical High School. When I entered the orchestra in 1993, I was only 11 years old. At that time I practiced so much that every day I learned at least two new songs and later I was always asked to play something new in the orchestra. Although I was very young I performed as part of the orchestra in 1996 in Guca (The most famous yearly brass band festival in Serbia) and since then I go back there every year under my name, Ekrem Mamutović. The first time I participated in a brass band competition was in Surdulica (Vlasina lake), where I got the jury first prize for playing trumpet in the summer of 2002 and after playing in Guca the songs Gora Jeci and Vranjski cocek I won the award for best song. Later, I had to leave the competitions for personal reasons and as early as 2007 I joined the orchestra again as a leader and again we won the first prize Memorial Bakija Bakic Orchestra Vlasinsko best summer of 2007 in the Surdulica competition. In the same year we played in Guca, and the expert jury awarded us the prize for the song First Trumpet Dragacevo . Later I got another award for best song so that I became the best trumpeter in Serbia for the year of 2007. The first time we performed in Guca under the name Brass Band Bakija Bakic led by Ekrem Mamutović winners was in 2007. For that I asked my grandmother and Bakije allowed me to represent and care for the Bakije Grandma Trradition . In 2008 I got the prize in Guca for the most authentic performance and the Golden Apple award for best orchestra with the songs Walk Zemi zemi me and Ekremov cocek, from jury Memorial Award Professor Miodrag Vasiljevic In 2009 in Vlasina lake, before Guca festival, we got a prize for the best perfomance of Cocek song (traditional Serbian song) and we directly got the chance to performe in Guca competiton.
