Recently an emergency physician, Dr. Kevin Spencer, faced a stuck ring on a broken finger due to an injury while walking her dog. The patient first went to the hospital where they used a ring block aid as well as the string wrap technique multiple times with no success. They also attempted to remove the ring by cutting it; however, the ring was too thick and the cutter had barely made a dent after several minutes! A physician on duty at the hospital recommended the patient go to a different hospital that carries the Ring Rescue compression device. After just two rounds of the compression device the finger had decreased in size substantially.
