This is our video on how to measure a t-shirt for fit and comfort. When measuring a t-shirt there are five measurements to consider as well as other factors like t-shirt style and material. Be sure you have a fabric tape measure handy for all these measurements. • When you measure the t-shirt, first measure the body length. To do that, lay the garment flat, front facing down, and measure from center back neckline seam straight down to the bottom of the front hem. • The next step is to measure the t-shirt sleeve length.To do that leave the shirt laying face down and measure from the center back neck to the outer edge of the shoulder seam, then measure along the outer edge of the t-shirt sleeve to the end of the sleeve. • Finally you will measure the body width of the shirt. To measure the body width, flip the t-shirt over so it’s laying flat, face up. Starting one inch below the armpit measure straight across the t-shirt chest. • In some cases you will also need to measure your chest size and neck circumference for the proper t-shirt fit. To measure your chest, measure just under the arms, across the fullest part of the chest, around the shoulder blades, holding measuring tape firm and level. • Finally, to measure for the neck and collar of a t-shirt, measure around your natural neckline, keeping one finger between the tape measure and your neck. • Beyond these measurements you will want to consider the style of shirt you’re buying as some t-shirts are more tapered and fitted than others.
