Duke Theseus and Hippolyta, his bride to be, return to Athens to discuss their wedding, coming in four days time. They are approached by Egeus, a citizen of Athens, who explains that his daughter, Hermia, is promised in marriage to Demetrius - however, she refuses to wed Demetrius, preferring her love, Lysander, and Egeus would have the law of Athens invoked to either force her to marry or execute her. Lysander and Hermia discuss their plan to flee Athens and elope, sharing it with their friend Helena. • (Turn on the subtitles for a more modern translation!) • A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare • Adapted by Man on the Internet • No Fear Shakespeare: https://www.sparknotes.com/nofear/sha... • Artwork By: • ArcherOwl (https://bit.ly/ArcherOwl) • Ariza Luca (https://bit.ly/ArizaLuca) • Classicult (https://bit.ly/Classicult) • Juno (https://bit.ly/JunoSongs) • Kikyo Yuuki (https://bit.ly/KikyoYuuki) • Matsuban (https://bit.ly/Matsuban) • Starring: • Theseus: Candourlight (https://bit.ly/Candourlight) • Hippolyta: Cellochicita ( / cellochicita ) • Philostrate: Unirob (https://bit.ly/UniRobMusic) • Egeus: Suraht ( / suraht ) • Hermia: UprisingAttorney (https://bit.ly/UprisingAttorney) • Demetrius: DBGreece (https://bit.ly/DBGreece) • Lysander: Stephen Cumberworth ( / scumberworthvo ) • Helena: EmilyGoVO (https://bit.ly/EmilyGoVO) • Mix by Marc Gardner • Music: • Emperor's Parade by Plate Mail Games • Medieval City 2 by Plate Mail Games • Love Song by Kevin MacLeod • The Parting by Kevin MacLeod • Midsummer Night's Dream by Mendelssohn from the YouTube Audio Library • Kevin MacLeod's music is licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License • http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... • Plate Mail Games' music is used with license from Plate Mail Games (http://platemailgames.com/)
