I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer in May of 2016. I went through 28 days of radiation and oral chemotherapy, surgery to remove 12” of my colon/rectum and 17 lymph nodes plus had an ileostomy created, then had a port implanted and went through 8 rounds of FOLFOX chemotherapy. After all that was over, I had my ileostomy reversed and it was declared that I had No Evidence of Disease (NED). Life doesn’t just magically return to normal once cancer treatment ends.
