Shooting on the off leg (or back leg) means that you'll be driving all your weight onto the leg that's closest to your hockey stick. If you're a lefty, your inside leg is your left leg and that will be the one you drive forward as you shoot. If you're a righty, it'll be your right leg. In terms of progression, this is a shot we learn after mastering the front leg wrist shot where the opposite leg drives towards the net as you shoot. The benefit to shooting this shot is that your release is quicker, there's limited wind up time, and it's easier to shoot in stride and from odd angles. A definite shot you need to master to elevate to the next level! In this video Sean breaks down the four main positions to learn to take an off leg wrist shot from a stationary position, in motion slowly and in stride at top speed.
