Loosen the wiring harness. • Completely remove the retaining rail of the C-pillar seal. • Pull off the old seal. • Remove all sealant compound residue from the seal contact area. • Clean the area of all grease and dust. • Place a 100 mm long butyl strip on the edge of the C-pillar ... • ... as close as possible to the flange. • Fold the butyl strip over the left and right edges. • Place another butyl strip overlapping on the inner edge of the flange. • Spread sealing compound along the sheet metal flange on the inner side of the C-pillar. • Pay special attention to the leaktightness of these two joints. • 1. Joint at lower inner section of C-pillar. • 2. Ensure that the seal connects to the butyl strip at the top • Attach the new seal at the corner. • Press to join it to the butyl strip. • At the back, the sheet metal lug must fit in the special pocket in the seal. • Check for proper fit. • Attach the seal to the outside edge of the C-pillar and press. • Mount the retaining rail. • Check for proper fit of the retaining rail and the seal. • Note: Ensure that the outside C-pillar seal is above the inside C-pillar seal. • Tighten the retaining rail to 5 Nm. • Remount the wiring harness. • =========================================================== • instagram: • / mbownersclub • twitter: • / mb_owners
