http://paint-and-body.com/ • How to apply lacquer to a car, a free guide. • This video shows how to apply a top coat finish, using skills i have trained with and perfected over the last 12 years. • • I always start at the bottom of the panel to see how the paint is going on. The first coat needs to be applied as a half coat of paint. • The half coat of lacquer is applied to act as a surface the second coat can grip on to. The half coat is left for about 5 minutes, this is so the second coat is not applied to a wet surface and can bond with the fist layer. • • If you tried to put 2 coats on, one straight after the other without letting it cure for that 5 minutes, there would just be to much material and it would get taken over by gravity, and try to run of the panel. • • The lacquer is thicker than a lot of people think, i say this because it can cover up a lot of dust or bits of dirt in a bonnet ( or hood ) that can be seen when painting. • • The main thing to remember about painting lacquer, is to be smooth an even with the paint gun. And if you feel that you need to put more paint on to get a better finish, make it a faster coat, but do the whole panel in order not to get dry patches. • • Thanks for watching, and feel free to click on the like tab. Big smile :)
