Little by little, I keep painting British infantry in smaller scales. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to tackle 3mm figures as I've seen people doing - now that's tiny! Smaller scales don't necessarily lack for detail, but that doesn't mean you need to painstakingly highlight everything. Drybrush with something like Vallejo Dark Sand, then apply patches of PVA and flock.
