Toto La Momposina wrote the song “Oye Manita” for her friend La Cantadora Estefania Caicedo. Estefania used to perform in the Caribbean City of Cartagena, at the venues “La Piragua y La Quemada”. In 1992, Toto invited Estefania to join her on a European Tour. “Oye Manita” is a song that describes sisterhood. • Toto La Momposina’s entire life has been dedicated to representing the music of Colombia’s Caribbean Coastline. La Momposina emerged as a promising singer in the 1950s and formed her own band in the 1960s.
