Visiting Florence in August is different to visiting any other month, and today we are showing you why! We walk through the streets of Florence during Ferragosto weekend to find out just how packed the city is during the busiest Italian public holiday of the year! We share why Italy and the month of August have a relationship dating back to the 1st century BC with the creation of Ferragosto, as well as what you can expect with your visit. And we stop in for some delicious gelato at Gelateria dei Neri :) • Ferragosto is a public holiday celebrated on 15 August in all of Italy. It originates from the festival of emperor Augustus, who made the 1st of August a day of rest after weeks of hard work in the agricultural sector.
