PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION FOR FULL REVIEW. Some things are described in better detail here. As they say, hindsight is 20/20. • The first thing you see is the Bistro, which was not open this day (July 4, 2017). You also get a lounge and a business center with a Mac and a PC. This isn't separated from either the bistro or the lounge. There's a door to the outdoor patio, which needs more attention when it comes to presentation and cleanliness. The cigarette butts are one thing, but abandoned lighters and drinks is a bit much. (The guy walking through in the beginning just used the patio as a pass-through to the parking lot.) • The front desks (plural) is weird, not one long desk, but individual kiosk-style desks, with a mini shop next to it. It's well-stocked, but the microwave is gross, and wasn't cleaned in awhile. Then again, why pay the hotel costs, when you can go to the Market Basket across the property, and get what you want a lot cheaper? • The only meeting room had doors that are stuck shut. They require a bit of pulling to open them. Once inside, it's a nice square room with chairs to set up as you please. Odd that the bistro is using the cabinets for storage. Did they not have room for it in the restaurant? I can see the drawer with the extra towels and napkins, as well as the trash cans, but the other drawers just show it's just a place to stash stuff, like loose candy and floor tiles. I'm sure there's other places these things can go. • The pool was nice, not for diving, and has a seat for the disabled, so they aren't left out. There's a shower on-site to clean off before entering the pool. It also has a low hanger to place the shower head for the disabled, with the included seat. There was a utility room that was worded in a way that I thought there were extra stuff for the guests, but was locked, so it must've just been a utility room. • The gym was nice. Had some stepper and cycling machines, some strength training benches, and deadweights. Half of your workout is simply getting in the door. The latch does not fully release, so you have to give it a good tug in the right direction to get in. • See a pattern with the doors here? It continues later on. • The Laundry Room has a single washer and dryer, running 30 minutes each. $2.75 for the wash is not bad. Not sure what price you get on the dryer for the 30 minutes. • NOT SHOWN: • Stairwells: They have a fat lip over the edges, making you lean forward going up, backwards heading down. Don't know if it's intentional, but it helps make climbing easier, but feels strange heading down. • Elevators: Schindler 330A Hydraulics. Right one is OK. Left one rumbles (including nice harmonic vibrations) and shakes slightly. Door Close button randomly works on them. • • They have special rooms for the disabled on the corners. One set has the double-peephole for those in wheelchairs and scooters, the other has a loud doorbell and flashing lights for the deaf, or hard-of-hearing. • The room itself is very nice, well-appointed, but once again lacks a proper housecleaning and a front door where the latch seems to bind up. The door to the closet doesn't shut all the way, unless you force it on the top AND bottom. • Bed and pillows are comfortable, but seem to not be checked. I found a small hair and a lint ball with entangled hairs. This is not that good for housecleaning. One of the drawers to the main cabinet had mystery white stains on it, and other stains of mystery were on the couch (that is something that's out of their control), and the little table wasn't cleaned. It was sticky, and had gross stuff on it. • TV works with internet-based services, free and premium. I used my content to show it off (copyright issues not a problem that way). • Bathroom appears nice, but it was fairly gross. There were toothpaste and other residue on the countertop, the door was very filthy (was never used until a few hours after the video was shot), and not shown was soap scum residue at the bottom of the shower. • HVAC system works very well, and the windows open a few inches on either side, but the tracks could use cleaning. • Overall, I do give this place a B. Why just a B? Maintenance and cleanliness issues. It seems they don't do a great job here. If it's because of the holiday, it's not an excuse. I hope they will rectify this problem, as it drags down what is actually a nice property. They also need to address the doors getting stuck, as they need to be physically adjusted to work right again, or get hinges that can hold them properly. They also need to replace latches, as the one to the gym barely works, when it does, and the room ones need some help as well. • It IS a newer place, so maybe in a year or two, the door issues will be resolved. The housecleaning needs work. • ============ • LEGAL CRAP • ============ • Airport Lounge - Kevin MacLeod • http://incompetech.com • Crteative Commons Licence 3.0 • ISRC: USUAN1100806
