Free from schoolmaster duties for the summer, amateur archeologist Andrew Larabee (Kaye) arrives at his prospective dig site only to find it inhabited by a circus. While pursuing his dusty dreams, Andrew discovers his true calling might just be more clownish than he had imagined. This musical's already abundant charm is further buoyed by the wonderful score by Saul Chaplin and Johnny Mercer, orchestrated by Nelson Riddle, and the directing debut of Michael Kidd.
