Well after the Faroe’s trip the top end of just because got overhauled so it was a bit of a waiting game after it was stripped as the workshop was very busy. I had two none sailing friends that helped me strip it as I was just a little nervous of doing surgery on her myself. But as time went on I studied the rebuild and setting valve clearances and all that so I decided to rebuild the engine myself for a few reasons but the main one was to expand my knowledge of the boats engine. Tbh it’s pretty straight forward the other reason was to save money. All you followers that donated on my go fund me page this is were a lot of money went. So a big thanks to you for making it possible and a massive shout out to Van Spares ltd a local business. The video quality isn’t the best as I was trying to do this all myself and it got dark out there fast due to me taking a long time...not because the job was overly hard it was due to my Hand Arm Vibration injury from a while back...the fingers just don’t function the best clumsy. Anyway she was put back together and started ok. So I now have a great understanding of the top end and I would say I could rebuild her at sea if I had all the parts and needed to. I’m sure the 2001 2002 and 2003 are all the same just more are less. The weather has been awful up on the north coast of Ireland so I haven’t got out to try her on a run but I think she will be fine...I would like the weather to be reasonable as it looks like my sailing will be getting done solo from now on as the crew aka Alex has vanished I havnt heard a word from him in over two months not even to see how the work went on the engine. Find it very strange as I have taken him all over the place in “just because”🤷‍♂️. Anyway as I’m sure you noticed on my FB page with the work getting done and bad weather on the north coast I have been in the mountains recently doing lots of hiking and some camping just so I’m still in this adventure game. New plans are being made for next years adventures already so should be awesome adventure were it’s solo are not. The channel is now up to 766 subscribers and slowly growing so maybe with your help you could get a few friends subscribing and help me hit this 1000 mark. The channel is real adventure from a normal straight up guy who doesn’t edit the life out of his stuff to make it seem cooler than it it’s.
