Ultrasonic testing method uses sound waves to find flaws in materials. The sound waves having frequency more than 20KHz or 20000 Hz are known as ultrasonic sound waves. Ultrasonic testing has wide range of applications including aerospace, industries, material testing etc. • 🔹Ultrasonic testing can be performed on both metals and non metals and we can find surface defects and internal discontinuities of materials such as laps, voids, blow holes, seams inclusions etc. • 🔸Ultrasonic testing can be used to inspect extremely thick sections because of it's high penetrating capacity. • 🔹If we talk about working principle of ultrasonic testing it has several functional instruments/units such as the pulser/reciver, trasducer and display devices. • 🔸Pulser is an electronic device which produce high voltage pulses. The reciver section is also attached to pulser which recives the waves coming after testing. • 🔹Transducer sends high frequency sound waves into a materials. If there are defects present in the material the sound 🔊waves bounce back and travel less distance as compared to other sound waves which are deflected back by the surface. • 🔸Couplant is used to reduce the air gap between the transducer and surface to be inspected. • 🔹Display/Oscilloscope is a device on which recived data/signal is displayee either in video mode or radio frequency mode. • 🔸The surface to be inspected needs to be cleaned. • 🔹Advantages of ultrasonic testing, disadvantages of ultrasonic testing applications of ultrasonic testing are also discussed in this video. • -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapters👇 • 00:28 - Introduction to ultrasonic testing (NDT) • 02:38 - Working Principle and working of UT • 08:57 - Advantages of Ultrasonic testing • 10:09 - Disadvantages of ultrasonic testing • 11:08 - Applications of ultrasonic testing • --------------------------------------------------------------------- • @RoyalMechnoz • #ultrasonictesting • #nondestructivetesting • #ultrasonicsensor • #materialtesting • #mechanicalengineering • #Mechanical • #engineering • #maintenance • #mechanicalengineering • #ultrasound • #ndt • #ultrasonic_testing • #Royal_mechnoz • #education
