Millions of unsold cars are piling up on dealershi • In June, the number of new cars on dealer lots increased once more, totaling 2.96 million vehicles. That's an increase from 2.89 million automobiles a month ago, or roughly a 76-day supply. Additionally, there are one million more cars than there were 1.95 million at same time last year. • This year, sales of electric cars reached all-time highs; yet, the quantity of unsold inventory on American dealer lots also increased. As of the end of November, car dealers nationwide reported having 114 days' worth of new electric vehicles on hand, compared to the auto industry's overall inventory holdings of 71 days.
