Happy Christmas and soon to be new year! • With 2023 drawing to a close - this video is a compilation of my favourite Railway related clips that I've filmed whilst out and about this year. Its been an excellent year for spotting and this compilation focuses on my personal favourite moments. • Clips (in order): • 1) Colas have been running a flow of aggregates traffic to Longport this year. Of all the times I've seen this move - this occasion with 70806 thrashing through Hartford in the dark January evening was excellent. • 2) On a day out to Lancaster and Oxenholme - 46115 is seen at the latter performing excellently on its journey to Carlisle. • 3) BLS continued to put on some excellent tours this year with The Technical Cobra being one of them. Here we see 37403 at full power passing Barnsley. • 4) RailAdventure have been responsible for the shifting of new MerseyRail 777s this year and this occasion was a fantastic example with double choppers at the helm and at full power through Acton Bridge. • 5) With Colas continuing to haul logs to Chirk this year, this occasion saw 70806 fail mid-journey with 70814 rescuing. The pair are seen passing Frodsham. • 6) In the only unreleased clip in this compilation - 37418 absolutely blitzes past Acton Bridge hauling a long rake of JNAs. • 7) Colas now are running 70s on Kingsbury Oil trains and, of course I had to go out for one at some point. Here is 70806 for the third time in this compilation thrashing past Tamworth after exiting Elford Loop. • 8) Alstom Widnes have begun rolling out newly refurbished SWR 458 units and, in this clip - GBRf 56081 (with 69008 on the rear) is seen screaming through Acton Bridge hauling 458417. This was even my first occasion seeing a Class 69 in the flesh! • 9) Another smashing BLS tour, The Garsdale Growler is seen powering through Hall i' th' Wood with 37401 and 37425 at the helm. • 10) In last minute plans - the Llangollen Railway decided to hold a diesel gala with all three of their resident diesels as well as a rat borrowed from Pete Waterman. The definitive highlight of the day was managing to get on a brakevan trip behind 31271 for the full route up the steep gradients. • 11) LSL 40013 has found itself on a number of tours this year and is now one of my favourite locos in the UK. Here she's seen thrashing the living daylights out of Crewe. • 12) This was one of the first clips I managed to take on the new Google Pixel 8 Pro and this blew me away with its video audio quality. In a cracking test of this - 37418 is seen breaking the silence at Acton Bridge on a Vintage Trains tour. • 13) Near bowlage at Macclesfield with the GBRf 50s - just after the rear locomotive passed me at full power, a Pendolino arrived. Thank god it wasn't a second early! • 14) Unfortunately, this was the only example of Freightliner 70 thrash I managed to film this year.
