Energy systems training is absolutely critical to understand for anybody who wants to properly train in fitness. • In this video, OPEX Founder, James Fitzgerald, discusses what the energy systems are, how to train them, and some helpful examples showing what energy systems training looks like. • The 3 energy systems are: • 1. CP ATP - Gain • 2. Glycolytic - Pain • 3. Aerobic - Sustain • Some key points hit in the video are: • 1. All energy systems work together at all times • 2. Anaerobic training (alactic + glycolytic) is about high enough power output which requires strength - without enough strength, that training is useless • 3. Glycolytic training should be powerful enough that the pace cannot be maintained immediately after the interval is over • 4. Aerobic training should be sustainable for set after set after set after set • 5. The rest periods between intervals should be very long for alactic training, long for glycolytic training, and shorter for aerobic training (all based on pace) • This is a holy grail of a shorter film on energy systems training. Enjoy! • OPEX Fitness is the education provider for coaches seeking career success, longevity, and fulfillment. Our mission is to bring honor back to the coaching profession.
