May 14 (Bloomberg) -- Grocery delivery? There's an app for that. Apoorva Mehta used to work at Amazon. Now, his startup Instacart is taking on Amazon's grocery delivery business. Instacart is operational in nine cities so far. The twist on this business is that they deliver from multiple stores -- in San Francisco for instance, you can choose groceries from Safeway, Whole Foods and even Costco. And it keeps costs low by using independent contractors to buy and deliver the goods instead of operating its own warehouses. Bloomberg's Emily Chang reports.
