Given the similarity between this piece and Dona nobis pacem, longtime subscribers may wonder why I never recorded it. For one thing, the two are not identical, and the subtle differences require one to learn different fingerings. More importantly, in this revision I carefully examined the orchestral parts and realized that not all the vocal syllables are to be executed literally. By combining repeated notes (but not all, as also revealed by the orchestral parts) my transcription is now easier to play on the piano with smoother lines, and the additional trumpet voices are also incorporated toward the end as in my revision of Dona nobis pacem.
