David Gleave, an aviation expert from Loughborough University considers whether the missing Boeing 777 aircraft could have landed safely undetected • A former air crash investigator said while it would be possible for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 to have landed secretly on an airfield or a long enough stretch of motorway, the fact it has not been detected on the ground anywhere suggest this is unlikely to have happened. • There's only a certain number of hangars in the world that you can put this aircraft in, that are sufficiently that you can hide the tail [of the aeroplane], said David Gleave, who now works at Loughborough University. • He says the location of suitable hangars used by military and civil operators is known, and that the plane would also give out various heat signatures at different times of the day, which some remote-sensing satellites should be able to detect. • The missing Boeing 777 has been missing since the early hours of Saturday 8th March.
