The ladder allows you to bypass the entity cramming. That means you can have more than 24 chickens in one area by using a ladder. That means you can maximize your chicken farm with 65 chickens in it. • The minecart is only needed for Java Edition. Somehow the hopper under the slab can't reach the cooked chicken before it gets burned in the lava.
