Please watch: J. Prince Talks Drake Pusha T Beef, Rap-A-Lot Records, New Book | Soulful Sundays •    • J. Prince Talks Drake   Pusha T Beef,...   -~- • It’s Wednesday February 3, I’m Planet Asia and you’re locked into DX Daily. • Today, we have the unfortunate honor to eulogize Big Kap, the veteran NYC DJ who passed away early this morning at the age of 45. His death immediately ignited social media remembrance from the likes of De La Soul, Questlove, Rick Ross, Peter Rosenberg and many others, who had nothing but great things to say about not only his skills as a turntablist but for his character as a human being as well. • Lil Jon also posted a heartfelt tribute that credited Kap for getting his career out the gate, for he was the East Coast DJ who broke The King of Crunk’s 2001 classic “Bia Bia” during a time when southern music wasn’t easily accessible in other regions. • Kap, born Keith Lenard Carter, was also highly instrumental in the 90s New York rap scene, having been credited for helping break the legendary career of The Notorious B.I.G. and being a prominent understudy for Funkmaster Flex. In 1999, he released an album titled The Tunnel on Def Jam Records alongside the longtime Hot 97 personality that boasted big names in the game such as Jay Z, Nas, Lil Kim, DMX, Swizz Beatz and The Ruff Ryder and a then, little-known rapper named Lil Wayne. • Big Kap, dead at 45. Everyone tilt your records half mast and share your favorite memories of 90s NYC Hip Hop and don’t forget to subscribe. • @PlanetAsia • @Akthentik • @ItsMeTC15 • http://HipHopDX.com •   / hiphopdx   •   / hiphopdx   •   / hiphopdx.com
