This is a clip from 'Chiguru', my solo dance concert and art exhibition that was held on the 12th of November, 2011 at Town Hall, Mangalore. • This performance is dear to me for many reasons. This was one of the most memorable, unique birthday celebrations I've had so far. It was also Nihira's (my sister) debut performance, who was just 5 years old at the time. Seeing her reluctance to perform during the final rehearsal, I was all prepared to perform this as a solo act. However, she took us by surprise when this happened. Even an audience of 2000 people failed to instil stage fright in her. • This is a devaranama by Shri Pundara dasa. • Mother Yashoda, tries various ways to trick little Krishna to return the butter churn (kadagolu). The act concludes when little Krishna is finally distracted by a beautiful dancing peacock, who then gets his share of butter for his good behaviour. • Concept and choreography by my dance teacher, Vid. Smt. Sumangala Rathnakar. (Founder and Director of Natyaradhana and Yaksharadhana Kala Kendra) • #bharatnatyam #indian #classical #throwback #sisters #performers #yashodhakrishna #krishna #mangalore
