On Sunday, Paul Watson was arrested in Greenland for his efforts to save whales. He may now be shipped to Japan and spend the rest of his life in jail. • Danish authorities exercised an international warrant issued by Japan, alleging Paul broke the law by blocking Japanese whaling ships. This is a fraud. • For decades, Japan has been killing whales under the guise of scientific research, despite an international court order finding that their activities violated international law. Paul used nonviolent methods to enforce this order – and to protect a majestic animal from slaughter and potential extinction. Now Danish authorities are collaborating with the Japanese government to protect the whaling industry from accountability.
