Om Namah Shivaya. Chanting with Gurumayi Chidvilasananda Shivaratri 1990, Ganeshpuri. • Shivaratri is considered the most auspicious night of the year to chant the name of Shiva and invoke His grace. Om Namah Shivaya is the great redeeming mantra. It carries the power of the Siddhas who have repeated it and kept it charged with blessings. On February 23, 1990, that auspicious Shivaratri night, Gurumayi chanted this mantra in the Guru Chowk Hall in Ganeshpuri to the tune that Baba Muktananda particularly loved. Baba sang this melody throughout his life, from the early days of his sadhana on, and made it dear to us. This is the live recording. • Om Namah Shivaya means I bow to Shiva, the embodiment of auspiciousness, the Self of all. • Saraswati Veena: Meg Christian, Synthesizer: Joyce Wells, Harmonium: Vijaya Kulkarni, Recordists: Tibor Knowles, David Johnston • Produced by and available through SYDA Foundation, PO Box 600, South Fallsburg, NY 12779, USA. • Order No. 1-06-348.
