In the beginning, I was reluctant to buy an air fryer - don't get me wrong, I love kitchen gadgets - but I wasn't sure an air fryer would do anything my other appliances didn't already offer. • But I was wrong - my air fryer (Philips Air Fryer) has proven to be a really versatile addition and has more than earned a spot in my kitchen :) • Compared to other appliances I think air fryers are pretty simple to use right out of the box. Most air fryers come with a few recipes to get you started, and converting your own regular recipes is quite straightforward. • But if you are new to the world of air fryers you might not know exactly what you can make, and just how versatile they are. I've made so many different recipes in my air fryer; cheesecakes, sweet potato bread, flapjacks, and of course all the favourites like BBQ chicken drumsticks, spare ribs and breaded chicken. • I would love to share some of them here with you, and also on my blog (http://www.lianaskitchen.co.uk/recipe...) • But first up, today I am going back to basics - and if I'm honest, the main reason I bought our air fryer - I'm sharing with you how easy it is to make air fryer chips (if you are in the UK like me!) or maybe you call them French Fries? • Whatever your name for them, they sure do taste good in an air fryer :) • Air Fryer Chips (French Fries) • Notes: These were made using a Philips Air Fryer but they can be made in any air fryer. For air fryers with larger capacities you can of course double up (or triple up!) and make as many as your air fryer can hold. Just make sure you don't over fill or they will take longer to cook and might not crisp up quite right. • 1. Peel 2 medium potatoes and slice into chips/fries. If you prefer your chips/fries with the skin on then just give them a good scrub. • 2. Add them to a bowl of water and leave them there for around 30 minutes to get rid of the starch (confession - sometimes I'm too impatient to wait the 30 minutes so I kind of skip this stage -I just give them a rinse) • 3. Pat away any excess water using kitchen paper or a towel. • 4. I like to add 1 tbsp of olive oil because I like my chips/fries crispy on the outside. If you are really monitoring your fat intake then you can skip this stage. Another alternative is to use an oil spritzer/spray so that you can coat them more evenly, and likely use less oil. • 5. Season as per your own tastes - I use a chip seasoning which is essentially paprika, onion and garlic. Again, you can skip this stage too and save any seasoning until after they are cooked. • 6. Add to the air fryer basket. • 7. Cook on 180C/350F for around 15 minutes. I say 'around' because some people like their fries/chips crispier than others. Always check on them, I like to give them a good shake every 5 minutes to make sure they're not sticking together. • 8. You're done! Reward yourself with a tasty bowl of fries/chips :) • I hope you enjoy them! Do you have a special request for an air fryer recipe? Any questions? Please just ask in the comments below.
