Ever wondered what VGRF means? • Each and every plate plate that leaves our steel mill in Charleroi, Belgium is marked with VGRF and there is a good reason for it. In 1863 Victor Gillieaux (VG) bought the first land and created a company with a capital of 500,000 francs called “Victor Gillieaux et Cie”, next year actually on June 18th, 1864, he received the permission to produce iron. On July 1st, 1873, the company took the corporate name “Fabrique de fer de Charleroi” which remained until 1997 when it was integrated in the Usinor group. Another important person in the history of Industeel was René Fauchet (RF) which served as an internal mill quality inspector during the 1950’s. • Therefore we still today proudly mark all our plates with VGRF! • Capacity today is 250kt/year, thickness 4-175mm, width up to 4000mm and a plate weight of max 20 tonnes. • Industeel is producing quarto plates in our three mills in Belgium and France and our dimensional program is the largest in the world.
