South Carolina DNR hosts several youth hunts throughout the state. These are special opportunity hunts for youth ages 10-17. To go on one of these hunts you have to submit an application. DNR conducts a drawing to determine who gets selected for these hunts. • Two of my buddy's sons submitted applications to hunt Belfast WMA. Their preference of dates were in a different order in the hopes that if they both got drawn, my buddy could sit with each of his sons on different hunting dates. The youth must have an adult with them on the hunt. What happened though is that both of his sons were drawn for the same day. • My buddy asked if I would be willing to go and sit with his oldest son so that both of his sons could partake in this special hunt and I said sure and I am glad I did! • Belfast WMA is located in Newberry and Laurens county South Carolina in Game Zone 2. My understanding is that this WMA is open to all licensed hunters during archery season only. After archery season it is only open to those that have been drawn for special hunts. There a few adult rifle hunts and a few youth hunts. There are also antler restrictions on this WMA of 4 pts on one side or at least 12 wide. For this youth hunt though, DNR dropped the antler restrictions. • Here are some links for info about Belfast: • https://www.eregulations.com/southcar... • https://www.eregulations.com/southcar... • https://www.conservationfund.org/proj... • #deerhunting #youthhunt • This video and description may contain affiliate links and as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases which means that if you click on one of the products links, I'll receive a small commission.
