Breech presentation occurs when the pelvic or cau- dal end of the fetus is in direct relationship to the upper strait of the maternal pelvis, filling it com- pletely, and follows a known childbirth mechanism. Breech presentation is defined as a fetus in a longitudinal lie with the buttocks or feet closest to the cervix. Some factors for breech presentation include prematurity, uterine malformations or fibroids, polyhydramnios, placenta previa, fetal abnormalities (eg, CNS malformations, neck masses, aneuploidy), and multiple gestations.
