If you're gonna watch it on streaming (Disney+, Hulu or Netflix in the States) at S09E24, stop at the 14:38 timestamp and watch the alternate ending (to pretend the original ending doesn't exist in this canon) in order to have a happy ending! • So the moment y'all been waiting for! I've been working on this since i'm actually almost finishing re-watching HIMYM (as y'all know how bad the ending was, I am definitely watching the alternate ending of the finale tomorrow). • As some of may know that the alternate ending of this beloved sitcom was only exclusively to the Season 9 DVD release which the original ending that was originally aired was hated by many fans, so it was redone with the late great Bob Saget narrating and uses flashbacks from previous episodes which pretty much was a recap to the entire series timeline. • I've seen some uploads of this alternate ending on YouTube everywhere, but it was in poor quality so I tempted to make an HD restoration as I used footage from the Disney+ rips and the audio is from the Season 9 DVD (as I have access to them). But there are a few additional scenes for the finale that were never made to the original broadcast cut, as some scenes I had to upscale from the DVD in order to match some of the frames for my restoration. However, I didn't used footage for two scenes from the first and final episodes respectively from the HD soruces (due to production credits at the beginning). • It's a shame that this show hasn't gotten a proper Blu-Ray release (Altho the 4th season did got one. But due to poor sales, they never released the other seasons as 20th Century Fox discontinued releasing TV shows on Blu-Ray in 2015). Would love to see Disney to release the entire series on Blu-Ray for the 20th anniversary next year. I need to see the director's cut of the series finale to be released and a vinyl release of the soundtrack! • And worth noting that yesterday would've been the 1 year anniversary of the cancellation of How I Met Your Father (which serves to be a sequel spin-off to the original as some of the original cast members made cameo appearances). I will never forgive Hulu (which we have to blame Bob Iger) for cancelling it as it was due to the strike. As there's amount of HIMYM fandom going on, I hope that spin-off could get revived by ABC (since tbf, this show should NEVER worked as a streaming show in the first place. As HIMYM was originally a 20th Century Fox property before Disney bought Fox, it was originally broadcast on CBS, but they only have the first-run airing rights as they fully never owned this show. The same way with Warner Bros. for broadcasting all the Chuck Lorre shows on CBS). • For anyone is aware that the DVD for the finale is the extended cut as it was never been released on streaming or digital.
