To do this, they pulled out the musical Ouija board and channeled the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and even Bob Dylan. They nailed that 80's alternative rock aesthetic. These songs are dripping with sunset-lit ambiance, a result derived from hand-crafted songwriting and an ear for good (and time-relevant) production. Delayed guitar and reverbed drums set the foundation for the sound, but it's what is going on in the background that makes these songs more than just modern throwbacks. Piano, strings, sound effects, synthesizers, etc. all come together to add lush layers to the sound, making each listen more and more rewarding, and providing a perfect sounding board for the Dylan-esque vocals that haunt their sense of loneliness through each track. Lost In The Dream isn't a masterpiece by any means, it doesn't reinvent the sound nearly enough to achieve that, but it does make for a completely satisfying listening experience that takes you to another place and makes you reflect on life in our modern world. • Jake's Track Picks: • 2.
