Pomona Residential WM

Waste Management San Gabriel Pomona Valley has several residential accounts within the City of Pomona. Seen here is Mike Vasquez and Victor Gonzales collecting trash from The Oaks community. Years ago, I discovered this route and was shocked to see all the old burgundy WMX carts on route with tons of manual bins also set out for collection. Because of how tight the streets are, I always thought one of the small trucks operated here. One day, I gave 100Burrtec100 the area to check out and he discovered that WM runs full size garbage trucks here to collect. At the time he was here, a Think Green. Think Clean Amrep, 103704, was working the route, and so I never thought to visit here myself. Back in March, Kevin and I took a trip around La Verne and saw 103704 now working in south La Verne instead of out here on the border of Pomona. Curious, I asked one of the supervisors a few months ago who was working The Oaks and much to my surprise, he told me that was now Mike's route. I coordinated with Mike who told me what time he typically gets to this area and met him there today. • (0:00) - 263235: Mike usually drives a different Wittke - either 263451, 452, or 453: one of the Wittkes with a yellow Curotto Can. Today, another driver told me Mike was using this truck, 263235, which is one of three Wittkes that still has a green Curotto Can. I was really happy because first off, it's the last Mack LE Wittke Curotto Can that I have yet to film from Baldwin Park. Second, apparently this truck spent some time at GI during its life. It has Ventura County stickers from I believe 2003 as well as the CA 160 registration number on it. Kevin has pictures of it from his yard tour. And lastly, I thought it would be really awesome to see a green Curotto Can on a route with so many old carts. Quite a fun truck to watch since the hydraulic lines are still good, so the arm on the Curotto moves at a good speed. And it sure does sound amazing! Mike usually hits this area around 2 but he had a couple break downs throughout the day, so he came an hour and 15 minutes late. I'd say it was worth the wait! The streets here are near impossible for a garbage truck to fit through, and with a Curotto Can, it is even harder. So, Mike has to get out a lot and move carts to the truck in order to safely collect all the carts. Speaking of carts, there's a ton of awesome models here - 2 WMX Zarns (I only knew of one remaining), burgundy Rehrigs, Cascades, and Toters, an FA Toter, Roto, and a good amount of manual bins too. Oddly enough, there's no recycling in this HOA - everything is trash. Not sure why there were several gray and green Rehrigs, but they all had trash in it. • (10:47) - 104411: Victor came into the HOA and finished up the remaining route so Mike could hit the giant trailer park WM services a block away. I haven't filmed a 2014 Amrep in quite a while, but I really enjoyed this one. I've always enjoyed the sound of their engines personally. Got a good amount of WMX Toters on this part of the route. • Thanks to both drivers for their service to WM and a great job serving the City of Pomona! All fallen trash was picked up by either me or the drivers.
