#ThisIsPE - Ben Lewis from Greenacre School Sports Partnership. • Reaction Wall • Today’s #ThisIsPE lesson is reaction wall. This activity will help develop children’s reactions, hand eye coordination, balance and concentration. This skill can be applied in many different sports such as football, tennis, netball, handball. All you are going to need is paper a pen and a wall. • Activity 1 – Facing the wall • As you can see our numbers are set up at the moment one, two, three and four. All you need is someone else to call out the numbers for you. • You are going to be facing the wall. • Get yourself down into a low position so you are able to move to all the numbers with your hand. • Progression – Speed and order • We are going to speed up and change the order of the numbers. • Progression – adding extra numbers • We are going to add in some extra numbers, five and six. • Activity 2 – turning • There are two ways you can do this. You can either do half a turn, you are facing your partner, you will need to do half a turn and touch the number. Or if you are feeling really brave think about how you can turn all the way around to face the wall before you touch a number. You are still looking for the high and low but the challenge is how quickly you can get to it. • Why not mix it up and do some half turns and some full turns. • Activity 3 – • You are now going to need some household objects, I’ve got a couple of cans that you need to put down a meter or two away from the wall. The numbers will be called out to you but you will be starting further away. You need to get to the number and back to the cans before the next one.
