QMX multi-band multi-mode portable transceiver: http://qrp-labs.com/qmx • In this video I demonstrate the action of the new AGC and S-meter features in firmware 1_00_017. For testing I generated an S9+30 (huge) signal using another nearby transceiver (PA disconnected, internal Synth active only). Without AGC the audio output of QMX is heavily overloaded and clips, generating distortion and some pain if you had earphones on. With AGC, the huge signal is reduced to about S9 level, comfortable and undistorted. • AGC action is applied to a short delay line with as little as 1.5ms latency, so the action is instant, there is no short period where high audio levels make it through to the output.
