Greek philosophy taught that when people die their souls go to another place, where they live on in another realm. Mediaeval theologians took up this idea with pictures of a judgement immediately after death which would result in the soul going to heaven or hell (or possibly purgatory). None of this is true, according to the Bible. • According to the Bible, when we die, we do not go anywhere further than the grave. Our thoughts cease, we no longer feel or know anything, and even our emotions are gone. We remain in this state of unconscious death until the day of judgement when many will be raised and judged by the man appointed by God, Jesus Christ, who has already been raised from death. • Our hope for the future does not depend on going to heaven. It is a hope based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who will return at the day of judgement to raise the dead and to determine what will happen to them. • This video is produced by the Gospel Online project which is arranged and supported by the Christadelphian community in the United Kingdom. • For more information visit: https://www.gospelonline.co.uk/ • For an email newsletter visit: https://gospelonline.link/subscribe • Visit our Facebook Page at: / thegospelonlineuk • Online course on the basics of the Gospel: • Web Page: https://www.gospelonline.co.uk/online... • YouTube Playlist: • Introduction to the Gospel Course • Other passages to look at: Psalm 6:5; Psalm 88:5,10,12; Psalm 115:17; Psalm 146:2-4; John 6:39,40; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Daniel 12:2
