One night in Penang, we walked around the streets of Georgetown and stumbled into a shadow puppet play. It's called wayang sulit in Malaysia. Wayang means shadow or imagination, while Kulit means skin and refers to the leather that puppets are made from. We noticed a lot of photographers walk through a narrow alley so we followed them, armed with our Nokia Lumia 900 and Nokia Lumia 800. • The show was part of Georgetown Festival. It's a month-long celebration of art, music, theatre, dance opera and film to celebrate Georgetown's inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage listing on 7 July, 2008. • Shadows were projected onto a white cotton cloth background by a man holding the puppets behind the screen. He was surrounded by other people with flutes, drums, and gongs who played at certain times during the play. • We've never seen anything like it before and it was also interesting to watch from behind the scenes. • TRAVEL BLOG http://married2travel.com • FACEBOOK FANS   / married2travel
