It had a thick layer of dirt and corrosion on the surface and rust in most other places. • Firstly I noticed the pump was useless. The gasket needed replacing. I ordered a Tilley lamp maintenance kit and begun to dismantle the lamp. Once it was In pieces it set about degreasing all of the parts and blasted the top piece, cage and middle tube. I then filled the holes left from blasting and etch, primed, and painted the top piece and cage their original colours. Or as close as I could get at least. I also buffed the surface level off all of the brass pieces. This did scratch it somewhat but this was later removed with sandpaper and metal polish. I then applied some heat resistant paint on the bottom side of the top piece. • I was then a case of reassembling the lamp with the new gaskets and mantel and testing it out. The restoration was then complete. I love the glow this lamp gives off, the camera doesn't do it justice. • Disclaimer: I am no professional. Especially when it comes to electrics. It is certainly an area I am looking to improve in. I am completely self-taught and would appreciate any feedback, advice or constructive criticism. • I don't add music to these videos so that you can choose to listen to what you like if you would like to. • Become a patron to win the Items featured in these videos! • Patreon -   / restoreit   • PayPal Donations - [email protected] - If you would like to help towards more tools and projects. • Follow me on Social media to keep up to date with videos and giveaways. • Twitter -   / restore__it   • Facebook-   / restoreitcha.  . • Instagram - @RestoreItChannel • Patreon -   / restoreit   • Discord - I now also have a discord server if you want to chill with like-minded people and maybe learn something new. -   / discord
